Governor's visit and Christmas Fayre

It all happened at the end of November this year at St. Columba's. On Sunday 30th we had our St. Andrew's Service which was attended by our new Lt. Governor, General Sir John McColl and his wife, Lady Gene McColl. They were met at the door by the Minister. the Rev Randolph Scott and his wife, Louise, also the Session Clerk, Mrs Rena Menzies and the Clerk to the Board of Management, Mr Boyd Bennie. Representing the Jersey Scottish Society was their vice president,Mr Gordon Porter.

Left to right, is our minister. the Rev Randolph Scott, the Lieutenant Governor of Jersey, General Sir John McColl, Lady Gene McColl, Mr Boyd Bennie, Mr Gordon Porter, Mrs Rena Menzies, and Mrs Louise Scott.

The Choir were in good voice to sing a welcome.

And the first Advent Candle was lit.

The day before had been our Christmas "Fayre", which was a great success, raising nearly £1600 for Church funds.
I think this photograph shows Gregor Menzies trying to beat the price down for an item at the cake stall, but I don't think he would have much success.

As usual, the little "cafe" was well patronised and rightly so!!

The "stalls" were quite busy.

Next item on St. Columba's social calendar will be the Church Christmas Lunch at the Somerville Hotel, St. Aubin on Thursday 15th December.
